Chief's Message

On behalf of the men and women of the Horsham Police Department I am pleased to welcome you to our web page. The officers that make up the Horsham Police Department are dedicated and committed to insure Horsham is a safe place to live, work and play.

Horsham is located in the eastern section of Montgomery County and has a residential population of approximately 24,263. We answer over 15,000 calls for service a year and are known for our aggressive traffic law enforcement. The department is comprised of 40 men and women that are supported by a 9 member dispatch and clerical staff. In addition to our main duties, patrol and investigation, we provide a wide range of services to include: Adopt-a-Cop, Child Restraint Safety Inspection, Citizens Police Academy and our Student Police Academy. In addition we give out food baskets to those in need and each year we give out more than 3.000 bags of candy at Halloween. We are here to provide the finest police services available.

Chief Ruxton joined to Horsham Police Department as a police officer in March of 1973 and served in that capacity until he was promoted to Sergeant in October of 1981. He served as a platoon sergeant until June 1989 when he was promoted to Lieutenant. As a lieutenant he shared the responsibilities of command over the patrol, detective and administrative divisions of the police department. In May of 1995 he was promoted to Captain and in December of 1995 was promoted to the rank of Chief of Police.

He is presently a member of the following professional organizations: The Montgomery County Police Chiefs' Association, The Delaware Valley Police Professionals' Association, The Southeast Police Chiefs' Association, The Pennsylvania Police Chiefs' Association and the International Police Chiefs' Association.
